Are you considering hiring a Virtual Office Assistant to collaborate with? Do you want to be sure to find the PERFECT virtual office assistant for YOU and your business? Did you know your unique blend of personality traits affects your emotions, work performance, and relationships? Please continue reading, as I’m about to share with you an amazing tool, aimed at taking your business to the next level. Whether you are a solo-preneur, a small business owner, or the CEO of a large corporation, finding the perfect Virtual Office Assistant can be challenging, time-consuming, and frustrating. Finding a virtual assistant that you can effectively work with is absolutely vital to your business. Communication and trust are two crucial ingredients when you hire someone to work virtually for you. Most forms of communication when you hire a Virtual Office Assistant is through email or instant messengers. Any time you communicate via writing or typing, miscommunications can easily occur, thus causing unnecessary misunderstandings and frustrations. The individual on the receiving end can “hear it” as being said in one tone, when in all actuality, it was totally taken out of the “spoken” tone of voice and misconstrued. So what is the root cause of these misunderstandings and mistrusts? What is the cause of a relationship with a Virtual Office Assistant not working out?

No Two Are Alike

If we were all identical eggs in a carton, a giant mother hen could warm us up and turn us into slick chicks or roosters overnight; but the facts are that we are all different. We were all born with our own set of strengths and weaknesses, and there’s no misunderstanding or exchange of words in a moment of frustration that can change our uniqueness. Until we recognize our uniqueness, we can’t understand how two people who utilize the same Virtual Office Assistant to perform the same tasks delivers  different results, when in all actuality, it is all about finding the right personality style/temperament to compliment your style. We all were born with peculiar temperament. Some of our qualities are beautiful and if we’re brutally honest with each other, some of our qualities are blemished…no one is perfect and some may have had a “good life” while others have suffered bumps and bruises along the way.  nonetheless, your temperament remains the same. My temperament is the real me; my personality is the attire I put on over me. I can look at myself in the morning with my hair a mess, a plain face, etc. and within an hour, I can apply makeup to create a colorful face, plug in my hair dryer and curling iron and TOTALLY change my hair; not to mention I can put on a flattering outfit. But what have I done during that hour? I’ve taken the real me and I’ve dressed it up, but have I haven’t changed is what’s  underneath…my temperament.

It’s CRUCIAL for both the business owner and the Virtual Office Assistant…

• To know what you’re made of
• To know who you really are
• To know why you react the way you do
• To know your strengths and how to amplify them
• To know your weaknesses and how to overcome them

This is actually often overlooked even in a brick and mortar environment. So often, when we have a face-to-face interview, we dress in our best to make a lasting impression. We use our best mannerisms while we appear to have it all together professionally, when all along, the beauty of hiring someone to work for you virtually is that the outward appearance has very little to do with the inward ability and temperament of that potential Virtual Office Assistant. You can find an Virtual Office Assistant who has a high typing speed, a college education, top-notch experience, yet because his/her temperament is not a match for YOUR temperament, she ends up being the WORST assistant you have ever worked with. Mistrust quickly settles in, and the “clashing of temperaments” begins. Why? Simply because a key to working together easily is in RELATIONSHIP. It’s about understanding each other and accepting each other for who we are without having to wear a mask. It’s about being REAL with each other. When we have a virtual working relationship, we cannot cover up our inner strengths and weaknesses with the distractions of the outward appearance as we can face to face.
